HANDBLOCK
1. What is hand-block printing?
Hand-block printing is a traditional, artisanal technique where each design is hand-carved onto wooden blocks and then stamped onto fabric by skilled artisans. This process is done with precision, creating unique, vibrant patterns that cannot be replicated by machine printing. Each piece is a work of art with subtle variations, making every item special.
2. How do I know if an item is hand-block printed?
All of our hand-block printed items will be clearly labelled as such on the product page. Look for the Hand-Block Print tag or description in the product details. Our artisans use natural dyes and sustainable methods, which add a unique character to each piece.
3. Why does hand-block printing make each piece unique?
Because each print is applied by hand, slight variations in the design, color, and placement are natural. These variations are part of the charm and beauty of hand-block printing, giving every item its own individual touch.
4. How should I care for hand-block printed clothing?
To ensure the longevity of your hand-block printed garments, follow these care instructions:
- Wash with cold water: Hand-block prints are delicate and can fade if exposed to high heat.
- Hand wash recommended: While machine washing on a gentle cycle is fine, hand washing is gentler on the fabric and print.
- Avoid harsh detergents: Use mild, eco-friendly detergents to preserve the colors and texture.
- Dry naturally: Lay your garments flat to dry or hang them in a shaded area. Avoid direct sunlight, which can cause fading over time.
5. Will the colors fade over time?
As with any naturally dyed fabric, some fading may occur over time with regular wear and washing. However, our hand-block prints are carefully set to ensure that the colours stay vibrant for as long as possible. Following the care instructions will help maintain the print.
6. How are hand-block printed garments made?
The process begins with artisans carving intricate designs onto wooden blocks. Each block is dipped into natural dye and then pressed onto fabric, one colour at a time. This careful, labour-intensive method gives every piece a distinctive, one-of-a-kind look.
7. Are hand-block prints more costly than machine prints?
Yes, hand-block printing involves more time, skill, and manual effort than machine printing, which can make hand-block printed items slightly more costly. However, you're investing in a unique, artisan-crafted product that carries both cultural heritage and craftsmanship.
8. Why are some hand-block printed items slightly different in colour or pattern?
Due to the handmade nature of the printing process, slight differences in colour intensity and pattern alignment are normal. These variations are part of the charm of owning a hand-block printed piece. Each item is a unique piece of art!

1. What type of silk do you use in your garments?

2. Is your silk ethically sourced?
Yes! We prioritize sustainability and ethical sourcing. Our silk is made in accordance with fair labour practices, and we ensure that the production process minimizes harm to both the environment and the workers involved. We are constantly looking to improve our supply chain to ensure that our products are not only beautiful but also responsibly made.
3. How do I care for my silk garments?
Silk is a delicate fabric that requires gentle care. Follow these steps to keep your silk pieces looking their best:
- Hand wash in cold water: Use a mild, silk-friendly detergent. If you're machine washing, always use a delicate cycle in a laundry bag.
- Avoid wringing or twisting: This can damage the Fibers.
- Dry flat or hang to dry in a shaded area: Direct sunlight can cause silk to fade, so it's best to let your garment dry naturally.
- Iron on low: If needed, iron your silk garment while it’s slightly damp, using the lowest heat setting. Always iron on the reverse side to avoid direct heat exposure to the fabric.
4. Can I wear silk in all seasons?
Yes! Silk is a versatile fabric. It's naturally breathable and moisture-wicking, making it perfect for both hot and cold weather:
- In warm weather, silk keeps you cool by absorbing moisture and allowing air circulation.
- In colder months, silk acts as a natural insulator, keeping body heat trapped close to your skin.
5. Will silk shrink after washing?
If proper care is taken (cold water wash, gentle handling), your silk garment should not shrink. Always follow the specific care instructions on the label to maintain its shape and texture.
7. Is silk hypoallergenic?
Yes! Silk is naturally hypoallergenic, making it an excellent choice for sensitive skin. It contains natural proteins that help reduce irritation and allergens, offering a smooth, irritation-free experience.
9. Can I wear silk to work or for formal events?
Absolutely! Silk is often seen as the epitome of elegance and sophistication, making it ideal for both professional wear and formal events. From blouses and dresses to suits and scarves, silk adds a luxurious touch to any outfit. Its sheen and drape make it perfect for eveningwear as well.
11. Does silk fade over time?
Silk can lose some of its sheen and colour vibrancy over time, especially with exposure to sunlight or harsh chemicals. To protect your silk garments, store them in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight. Always follow the care instructions to help preserve the colour and texture.
12. Can I get my silk garment altered?
Yes, silk can be altered, but it requires a skilled tailor familiar with working with delicate fabrics. If you need alterations, we recommend finding a tailor who specializes in working with fine materials to avoid damaging the fabric.
16. Can I wear silk in hot weather?
Yes! Despite its luxurious appearance, silk is incredibly breathable and can help keep you cool in warm weather. It naturally absorbs moisture and allows the fabric to breathe, making it an excellent option for hot climates.
17. How do I store silk clothing?
To prevent damage, store your silk garments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Hang silk items using padded hangers or fold them carefully in a drawer. If you're storing your silk for an extended period, use a breathable garment bag to protect it from dust and moisture.
HANDSPUN
1.What is hand spun fabric?
Hand spun fabric is made from Fibers that are manually twisted into yarn or thread by skilled artisans. This traditional process allows for greater control over the thickness, texture, and quality of the yarn. The hand spinning technique results in a unique, organic texture that cannot be replicated by machines.
2. What is handwoven fabric?
Handwoven fabric is created using a traditional loom, where artisans weave the hand spun yarn into cloth by manually interlacing the threads. This slow and meticulous process results in a high-quality fabric with a distinct texture and appearance, making each piece one-of-a-kind.
3. Why is hand spun and handwoven fabric more Costly than machine-made fabric?
The labour-intensive nature of hand spinning and handweaving adds to the cost. Each piece is made by skilled artisans who spend time perfecting their craft. Additionally, the use of natural Fibers and sustainable practices in handwoven fabrics means that the environmental impact is lower, though it may result in a higher price point. However, you're investing in quality, uniqueness, and craftsmanship that machine-made fabrics simply can't replicate.
4. Are your hand spun and handwoven fabrics eco-friendly?
Yes! Our hand spun and handwoven fabrics are sustainably sourced, using natural fibers and eco-conscious methods. By working with traditional techniques, we minimize our environmental footprint. The absence of large-scale machinery reduces energy consumption and waste, and the Fibers we use are biodegradable and naturally sourced.
5. How do I care for hand spun and handwoven fabrics?
Hand spun and handwoven fabrics require extra care to maintain their texture and longevity:
- Gentle washing: Hand wash your items in cold water with a mild detergent, or use a delicate cycle if machine washing.
- Air dry: Lay your garments flat to dry or hang them in a shaded area. Avoid wringing or twisting the fabric.
- Iron on low: Iron your handwoven garments on a low heat setting while the fabric is slightly damp to preserve its texture and shape.
- Avoid harsh chemicals: Stay away from bleach and other harsh chemicals that could damage the natural Fibers.
6. Can handwoven fabrics be machine-washed?
While handwoven fabrics are more delicate than machine-made fabrics, many of our pieces can be washed on a gentle cycle with cold water. We recommend checking the care label on each item for specific washing instructions to ensure the best care for your garment.
7. How do I know if a fabric is hand spun and handwoven?
We make it easy for you to recognize our hand spun and handwoven fabrics! Each product is clearly labelled with information about the techniques used, and we provide details about the artisans behind the creation. You’ll also notice the unique textures, slight irregularities, and natural variations in the fabric that set it apart from machine-made alternatives.
8. Why do handwoven fabrics have slight irregularities?
Slight irregularities in the weave are a natural characteristic of handwoven fabric. These variations add to the beauty and uniqueness of the fabric, giving it a tactile quality that machine-made fabrics cannot replicate. The imperfections reflect the handcrafting process and the skill of the artisans who created the fabric.
9. Are your hand spun and handwoven fabrics sustainable?
Yes, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. By using traditional methods like handspinning and handweaving, we minimize waste, reduce energy consumption, and promote eco-friendly practices. We work closely with artisans who are committed to preserving these ancient techniques while ensuring fair wages and working conditions.
